BARTEC Group
With headquarters in Bad Mergentheim, Germany and with a
network of 6 manufacturing plants in Europe and 1 in China,
BARTEC Group specialises in Ex products for hazardous areas,
heating technology, industrial analysers, bulk delivery
management systems and seismic instrumentation.
BARTEC is able to provide custom solutions for Hazardous
Area equipment as well as off-the-shelf product lines for
use in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Food,
Petroleum, Water, Power Generation and Mining industries.
With over 1,200 employees and more than 26 worldwide sales
offices, BARTEC Group has developed a proud reputation for
providing quality, accredited and certified products.
The extensive experience and expertise of BARTEC’s
engineers and technicians also allows the Group to offer
a comprehensive range of services, including design, engineering,
manufacturing, testing, certification, installation, commissioning
and after-sales support.
Company History and Ownership
BARTEC GmbH was founded by Reinhold Barlian in 1975 in Bad
Mergentheim, Germany and has since grown into a global corporation
with an international staff complement of 1,200. The major
shareholder of BARTEC GmbH is the Allianz Corporation.
In 1983, BARTEC was established by Reinhold Barlian and
was registered as Barlian Technik (Pty) Ltd. The company
eventually gained new shareholders, was renamed BARTEC Barlian
(Pty) Ltd and was appointed BARTEC GmbH’s main distributor
in South Africa. A decision was taken by BARTEC GmbH’s
Board of Directors to re-invest in South Africa and consequently,
in July 2005, the company was fully acquired by BARTEC GmbH
and was renamed BARTEC Safety (Pty) Ltd and today trades
under this name as well as that of BARTEC .

Workshop Facilities
BARTEC has 500m2 of in-house workshop facilities in Industria
West, Johannesburg, which allows us to offer our customers
a local manufacturing and customisation capability.
BARTEC South Africa also provides an extended workbench
facility, which in effect, guarantees our customers the
same quality and certification standards on locally produced
products as those employed at our production facilities
in Germany.

Company Organisation
BARTEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of BARTEC GmbH and operates
as a profit and loss business unit of the Group. The company
is headed by a Board of Directors comprising the following
members:

Our Sales Department is responsible for customer interface,
sales, marketing and account management in the ETO (enquiry
to order) phase of commercial contracts.
The Sales force is organised on product lines with an Account
Manager assigned to each product or group of products. Key
clients are also assigned a dedicated Account Manager.
Our Operations Department is responsible for contract execution
and delivery in the OTI (order to invoice) phase of commercial
contracts and is headed by a Workshop Manager who is responsible
for engineering, manufacturing, customization and all site
work.
Our Financial & Accounts Department is headed by our
Financial Director.
BEE Policy
BARTEC has appointed a leading accredited and independent
BEE consultant to develop a comprehensive compliance implementation
plan. BARTEC South Africa enjoys the full support of our
parent company in this initiative and we confidently anticipate
complete implementation of the plan by the end of 2007.
Furthermore, our existing recruitment, procurement, social
upliftment and staff support policies reflect total commitment
to empowering previously disadvantaged individuals in our
community.
